This is a high quality student range guitar. Although not a full-solid material, you can still expect very high sound quality, responsive and great volume; in fact, comparable to full-solid quality of higher priced guitars.

Despite its age, the neck is in very good relief, with no pressure on the left hand. The action is set for performance standard, but you can choose to lower them as there are plenty of room for adjustment.

There are dents and scratches, noticeably at the top lower bout. Also, there are marks at the back of the neck, near 2nd frets, possibly caused from the use of capo. These do not affect the sound quality of the guitar.

About Ryoji Matsuoka
Ryoji Matsuoka workshop produced many high quality but budget friendly guitars. They produced OEM models for Fana corp, Aranjuez (Kohno made some of the tops while Matsuoka made the body). The model numbering system of Matsuoka workshop changed a few times over the years, and the older 70s or early 80s numbers without 'M' is at much higher quality than those models with 'M'. They also produced replicas of Hausers, labeled as MH, and Ramirez, labelled as MR.
